Revitalising workwear and beyond: A collaborative journey with MBP Door Solutions

 
 

The recently rebranded MBP Door Solutions has emerged as one of the fastest-growing companies in the Black Country, boasting a remarkable 27% increase in turnover in 2023.

Since 2020 we have been proud suppliers of business supplies and furniture solutions to this dynamic organisation.

Last year our commitment and exemplary service led us to secure a competitive tender for MBP Door Solutions' extensive workwear contract, covering ten locations across the UK.

With its previous workwear supplier going into administration, what was at the time Midland Building Products, invited four suppliers to tender proposals for the contract, which is worth between £50-£70k per annum. Capitalising on our recent investments in the workwear division, including cutting-edge embroidery and heat transfer machines, we were perfectly positioned to put forward a compelling proposal.

Jody Wright, Facilities and Commercial Manager, MBP Door Solutions commented:

We were increasingly unhappy with our previous supplier’s service and this was the perfect opportunity to onboard a new supplier that could manage what isn’t necessarily the most straight forward of contracts. The Group consists of seven separate Limited companies and although we were going through a rebranding exercise to incorporate the seven different companies and identities under the new MBP Group name and logo, we still wanted each company to have their own ordering and billing processes.” 

Upon winning the tender, we got to work, starting with a thorough consultation to understand MBP Door Solutions’ diverse workwear needs which cover office and warehouse staff across multiple locations. We worked closely with Jody and her team to identify preferred clothing brands, conduct successful clothing trials and establish a tailored price list. The BSG Online Portal was introduced to streamline the ordering process, allowing each location to maintain individualised ordering and billing processes.

The go-live date of October 2023 marked the launch of the new company name and branding. In alignment with this, we facilitated the approval of personalised clothing samples featuring the new logo and uploaded clothing images onto the portal, to help deliver a seamless and efficient ordering experience for authorised individuals at each location.

Prioritising warehouse staff for the initial rollout, we stocked a consignment of PPE clothing to facilitate swift distribution. To simplify the distribution process further, each person’s workwear pack was individually labelled, enabling quick identification and dispatch to the correct person within the branch.

Jody Wright added:

I cannot fault the service we receive from BSG – from the quality of the products, to their communication and the fact that they really go out of their way to help us and remedy any problems. It’s an incredibly personal service, so much so that I’d liken it to working with friends. Introducing the portal has also made everything so much easier - it’s an absolutely seamless and faultless service and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend BSG.”

Building on this success, the collaboration has since expanded beyond office supplies, furniture and workwear, with the addition of printed stationery items, including business cards and complement slips, which have been added to the portal. As we look ahead, we are committed to continuing to build our partnership with MBP Door Solutions and look forward to the prospect of further growth in our collaboration.
